Staying in tonight? We'll come to you.

We are Ada & Vera, a small cheesemonger and confectioner a couple of miles from most of London's hotels. We cut British and Irish cheese to order and make chocolate the slow way, and we bring both to your hotel reception in the evening, with your name on the box.

Order by 2pm and it is at reception by 10pm the same day, anywhere in Zones 1–3. Order later and it comes the next day the counter is open. Delivery is £5, for every box and every customer.

Ada's counter rests on Mondays, so cheese is Tuesday to Sunday (Sunday orders by noon). Vera's kitchen rests on Sundays, so chocolate is Monday to Saturday. The two set out from different places, so a box of each arrives as two parcels.

How it works

  1. You order. Pick a box below. Give us the hotel and the name the room is under.
  2. Buttons delivers. The box goes to reception or the concierge, chilled where the hotel can manage it.
  3. You come back to it. No waiting in, nothing to collect, nothing to carry.

A quiet night in

You have flown in, or walked further than you meant to, and the thought of finding a table is too much. Three British and Irish cheeses, chosen so the plate has a beginning, a middle and an end, with crackers and a chutney made to go with them. Eat it in your robe.

A picnic in the park

Hyde Park, Regent's Park, Primrose Hill if you want the view. Order the evening before and the box is at reception when you leave in the morning; it travels well in a bag, and the cheese is better for an hour out of the cold.

Something sweet, or something to take home

Vera's chocolates are made in small batches in England and finished by hand. A box on the pillow at midnight, or a present that survives the flight home; they keep for weeks, if you let them.

A souvenir with a story

When he isn't on the bicycle, Buttons mudlarks on the Thames foreshore and reads old books. The Cabinet of Curiosities is what he has found: 1930s Wonder Books that have passed through other hands, letterpress cards, the odd London pebble.
