Delivery, and the questions people ask

Good cheese is worth waiting for. Happily, not for long. Everything you might want to know about getting a box to your hotel is below; anything else, Buttons is on the contact page.

Will it really reach my hotel tonight?

If you order by 2pm (noon on Sundays) and your hotel is in Zones 1–3, yes. Buttons delivers between 4pm and 10pm and leaves the box, named, with reception or the concierge. Ada's counter rests on Mondays, so Sunday-afternoon and Monday orders arrive on Tuesday.

Do I have to wait in my room?

No. Tell us the hotel's name and the name the room is booked under at checkout. The box goes to reception, chilled where the hotel can manage it, and you collect it when you get back. Almost every hotel in central London is used to this.

Is my hotel in the delivery area?

Zones 1 to 3 covers the West End, the City, Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, Southbank, Shoreditch, Camden, Islington, Hackney, Notting Hill, Paddington, Battersea, Canary Wharf and everywhere in between. If the postcode begins W1, WC, EC, SW1, SW3, SW5, SW7, SE1, E1, E2, N1 or NW1 you are certainly inside it. Checkout will tell you for sure before you pay.

Can I order before I arrive in London?

Yes. You choose the delivery date at checkout, so a box can be booked weeks ahead and be waiting at reception on the evening you land. Pay in pounds; your card does the rest.

What does delivery cost?

£9 within Zones 1–3, and nothing at all on orders over £100.

What time will it come, exactly?

Between 4pm and 10pm on the day you choose. Our courier rides a bicycle, so we don't promise a precise hour; if you need it before a particular time, write it in the order note and we will do our best.

How long does the cheese keep?

Cut on the day it is delivered, it is at its best that evening and the next day, and perfectly good for a couple of days after in somewhere cool. Take it out half an hour before you eat. Ada has written a few words on looking after cheese.

What about allergies?

Every box contains milk, and the crackers may contain wheat and other allergens. If you have any other allergy or intolerance, ask before ordering and we will tell you exactly what is in each item.

Can you send it home to America, or Japan?

Not the cheese, sadly; it is cut to order and does not travel. Antiquarian books from the Cabinet can be sent to the United States by tracked post. Chocolate and curiosities go anywhere in the UK.

Something wasn't right. What now?

Tell us within 24 hours at hello@adaandvera.co.uk with your order number and, if you can, a photograph. We will replace it or refund it. Cheese cannot be returned once it has left the counter; everything else can, within 14 days.

Is it true some of the money goes to cats?

Yes. Fifty pence from every box, whatever is in it, goes to Cats Protection in London, to their centre at Harrow. Buttons chose them. Here is why.
